How to install NodeJS in Ubuntu server

Hi cloud!

Today I will explain how easy could be installing NodeJS in ubuntu machine. Let’s start!

Once we get a shell the first thing we have to do is to update our system.

 $ sudo apt-get update

Later we have to install the necessary packages to get NodeJs running…

 $ sudo apt-get install g++ curl libssl-dev apache2-utils

Depending on your system state you provably have somem of this packages, if not, you will need to install it.

Later we just have to download the sources from NodeJS.org (At this time, the nodeJS version is 0.6.15 stable).

 $ wget http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.6.15/node-v0.6.15.tar.gz

Untarfile

 $ tar -xzvf node-v0.6.15.tar.gz
 $ cd node-v0.6.15/
 $ ./configure
 $ make
 $ sudo make install

And now we just need to try if NodeJS is installed, so type:

 node --version

And you will get

 v.0.6.15

That’s all! Very easy installation, a one of the most powerful languages!

Stay in the cloud!
